The Older Americans Act (OAA) program provides funding for a wide array of social services for persons age 60 and older. It was enacted in 1965 and has been amended periodically over time. 

  • OAA Title IIIB: This title under the Older Americans Act provides funding for supportive service programs to help improve the well-being of older adults and to help them live independently in their home environment and the community.  Some of the services provided under this title include:  adult day care, chore and enhanced chore, homemaker, housing improvement, legal assistance, personal care, pest control, specialized medical equipment and supplies, and transportation, etc. 
  • OAA Title IIIC1: This title under the Older Americans Act provides funding for congregate meals and nutrition education for older persons. For a list of Alliance funded congregate meal sites/senior centers  in Miami Dade and Monroe Counties click here:  Meal-Site-Roster-May-2026.pdf 
  • OAA Title IIIC2: This title under the Older Americans Act provides funding home-delivered meals and nutrition education to homebound individuals.
  • OAA Title IIIE: National Family Caregiver Support Program:  OAA Title IIIE — National Family Caregiver Support Program provides services under the Older Americans Act to support families caring for frail older adults, as well as grandparents or older relatives who are caregivers for children age 18 and under or for individuals of any age with disabilities.  

Services available through this program include adult day care, chore, legal assistance, respite care (facilitybased and inhome), material aid/housing improvement, and specialized medical equipment and supplies.

For grandparents raising grandchildren, the program also funds sitter services and homedelivered meals.
