Accessibility Statement for Website

Alliance for Aging, Inc. is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Additional accessibility considerations

Some text that displays on the home page slider is marked as low contrast based on the image behind the text. The text is machine-readable. Some images are used in the site through external plugins/forms that Alliance for Aging, Inc. has limited ability to add specific ALT tags or text to links or fields.

Alliance for Aging, Inc. installed One Click Accessibility plugin (https://wpaccessibility.io/) to provide website users with cognitive or learning disabilities, users with low vision, and users with disabilities on mobile devices the opportunity to adjust sire display by font size, contrast, color, links underline, greyscale, etc. Alt-tag warnings show for social media icons in the header and footer of the site. There is no provided way to assign alt tags to these icons.

  • CSS
  • JavaScript
These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.

Limitations and alternatives

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of the Website, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below. Known limitations for Website:
  1. Low Contrast Text on Home Slider: Some headline text on the home page slider shows a low contrast error because Background images can be introduced on the slider that have lower contrast with the text. Primarily using images that provide sufficient contrast. Providing alternate / redundant navigation features on the page that are duplicates of the slider navigation features.. Please use alternate navigation provided on the page..
