SNAP Benefits Update for Florida Seniors

What’s happening with SNAP

With the federal government shut down, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) risks not issuing benefits in Florida for November — putting nearly 3 million Floridians, including hundreds of thousands of older adults, in jeopardy of missing vital food support.

What you can do right now

  • Check your EBT or SNAP account and use any benefits you already have — you may not receive the next payment until funding is restored.
  • Review your SNAP benefits so you’re ready when benefits resume. Florida Department of Children and Families
  • Identify and reach out to local food resources (food banks, senior meal programs, home-delivered meals) as a back-up plan.
  • Stay informed: visit the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) website or call your local senior services to check for updates on SNAP benefit status.
