Do you like working with the 60+ community to teach about healthy aging?
We are seeking motivated lay health workers to facilitate educational workshops for elders residing in Miami-Dade and/or Monroe Counties. Workshops are offered on weekdays in English and Spanish. You will be paid for the workshops conducted.

The workshops include
Falls Prevention Programs – Experience working with and teaching light physical activity to older adults is preferred
- Bingocize® – twice a week for10-weeks, 1 hour each session
- A Matter of Balance –twice a week for 4-weeks, or once a week for 8-weeks, 2 hours each session
- Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance (tjqmbb.org)– twice a week for 24 weeks, 1 hour each session
Chronic Disease Programs
- Diabetes Self Management Program –once a week for 6-weeks, 2.5 hours each session
- Chronic Disease Self Management Program – once a week for 6-weeks, 2.5 hours each session
Education for Caregivers
- Savvy Caregiver® – once a week for 6-weeks 2 hours each session
Training and materials are provided.
Our coaches:
- are committed individuals with group facilitaon experience
- can commit for at least a year, more would be amazing
- can commit to be available for at least 2-3 workshops per year
- can be hired as an independent contractor
- can pass a level 2 background screening, as safety and privacy are crucial to this role.
- do not need to have medical experience or education
- have strong interpersonal skills and can communicate effectively with small groups of older adults.
- have experience working with people of different cultures and socio-economic backgrounds
- are physically capable of teaching a two-hour class (generally)
- have their own transportation to go to workshop locations
- can comply with structured teaching curriculum
- can be available for at least 2 group meetings/year
- have an appreciation for the aging population on the areas of Dementia, Chronic Diseases, Falls Risk, Mental Health and Social Engagement
